Western New York Outdoors
A Parks and Recreation Guide to locations for
outdoor adventures in WNY.
Woodlawn Beach
State Park in the Town of Hamburg, Erie County.
Description:
A sandy beach on Lake Erie, off Lake Shore Road, with a great view.
Located south of Buffalo off Route 5 at the Hamburg Turnpike with Route 179 (Milestrip
Road).
Picnic, play, swim, hike or tan in the sun and sand. This
mile long waterfront area has a combination of woodland, dunes, shorebirds and
creeks (Rush Creek and Smoke Creek). There is a boardwalk trail,
thru the wooded wetland, from the Visitors Center to the beach.
Purchased by NYS
on May 8th, 1996 and opened to the public in 1997. This is what waterfront
access to the public is all about.
