Waterman Swamp
Town of Napoli, Cattaraugus County.

Western New York Outdoors home

Description:

This refuge of wetlands and plant life is located about four miles west of Little Valley.  Take Route 353 to Chautauqua Road and travel west.  Turn on Pidgeon Hill Road and right on Farm Market Road to the entrance.

The swamp drains into Little Valley Creek on the eastern section and Cold Spring Creek, along Farm Market Road, to the south.  There is an abundance of wildlife, especially birds, and vegetation to observe along several hiking trails.

Acquired by the Buffalo Audubon Society in 1959 and formed from the glacial retreat.
