Western New York Outdoors
A Parks and Recreation Guide to locations for
outdoor adventures in WNY.
Tillman Road
Wildlife Management Area in the Town
of Clarence, Erie County.
Description:
This NYS DEC Region 9 wetland area is southwest of the village of Clarence along Shisler Road
and Tillman Road.
There is parking on Bergtold Road and Tillman Road with
access to trails for viewing nature, hiking and cross country skiing. A
boardwalk and viewing platform at the Bergtold entrance allows observation of
migrating waterfowl in the swampy marsh. Fishing is allowed in the ponds
and Ransom Creek, which flows into the NYS Barge Canal.
Asa Ransom was one of the first settlers in the early
1800's who built a sawmill here. Acquired in 1977 by NYS.
