Western New York Outdoors
A Parks and Recreation Guide to locations for
outdoor adventures in WNY.
Tifft Nature Preserve
City of Buffalo, Erie County.
Description:
This one time farm, and dumpsite in the 70's, was transformed to an urban
sanctuary for wildlife. Lake Kirsty, several ponds, marshes and woodlands
are used by numerous waterfowl as a migratory flyway. There are several
intertwined trails to hike and boardwalks to view birds. The Buffalo
Museum of Science uses this nature refuge for conservation and environmental
education.
Located on Fuhrman Boulevard, off Route 5, and south of the
city near the shoreline of Lake Erie. Traveling north from the Southtowns
on the Skyway, pass Tifft Street and exit to the parking area.
