The Seaway Trail
The western section of New York
State's National Scenic Byway in Orleans, Niagara, Erie and Chautauqua Counties.
Description:
This is an inland corridor trail that travels along the St. Lawrence Seaway
to the southern shorelines of Lake Ontario, the Niagara River and Lake Erie thru
the Western New York region. It is a tourist destination, created back in
1978, that connects communities and the region. You can drive it, as a
vacation, in about 4 days or boat it. Attractions, landscapes, historic
sites, lighthouses, parks, museums, harbors and numerous cities, towns and
villages welcome your stops.
This marked trail is designated as a
great American road trip that offers scenic, natural, historic, cultural,
archaeological and recreational opportunites. The trail is 504 miles long,
454 miles in New York State and the rest in Pennsylvania. The longest
recreational trail in America.
