Description:

This man made lake (1920's) is about 120 feet at its deepest point and drains into the Genesee River.  The county beach is popular for swimming in the summer time.  It is located on the southern end by the mouth.  It is NYS DEC stocked for quality fishing with brook and brown trout.  The Caneadea Creek also has rainbow trout.  Bass, crappie, carp, perch, suckers, bullhead and sunfish are also part of this fishery.

Boaters and sailors can use the public boat launch.  Take Route 243, on the north section, to the end of Balcolm Beach Road.  Anglers can also access for shoreline fishing.

Rush Creek inlet and Rush Creek State Forest are to the south.  Russell Forest Road is a multi purpose trail that is used for hiking, biking, xcountry skiing and snowmobiling.
