Palmer's Pond
State Forest in the Town of West Almond, Allegany County.

Description:

Located south of Route 2 (Karr Valley Road) and West Almond on Palmer's Pond Road.  A scenic, remote pond with islands, picnic area and surrounded by pine forest.  Hiking trails, wilderness camping and over 3,600 acres of forest is sliced in half by the Southern Tier Expressway (Interstate 86 or the old State Route 17).  Excellent trails for hiking, horseback, cross country skiing and snowmobiling.  The spring fed pond runs into Phillips Creek by a small tributary.

Maps are available from the NYS DEC Belmont office of the multi-purpose West Almond Trail System.   There are 28 miles of trails thru Palmer's Pond, Phillips Creek and Turnpike State Forests.

East Trail System

Palmer's Pond State Forest, Miller Road East there is a 5 mile multi-purpose trail.
