Western New York Outdoors
A Parks and Recreation Guide to locations for
outdoor adventures in WNY.
Hampton Brook Woods
Wildlife Management Area in the Town
of Hamburg, Erie County.
Description:
A unique wildlife habitat and wooded area south of
Eighteen Mile Creek. Located west of
East Eden Road. Hiking and bird watching are popular along the scenic
bluffs and this public greenspace. The NYS DEC plans to expand for
recreational use and wildlife preservation.
Access the trailhead at the end of
Hampton Brook Road. Look for the State Land signs and Rules and
Regulations posting before the gated trail entrance. After a short hike
thru the woods you will reach the bluffs along the creek. The trail is
currently slightly overgrown, not well marked and climbing down to the creek can
be tricky as there are no well defined access spots, but it is still a pleasant
expedition.
