Dayton Lakes
Town of Dayton, Cattaraugus County.

Western New York Outdoors home

Description:

A rural farming town south of Gowanda on Route 62 and along the Conewango Valley, this area borders between Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.  These lakes are located on the Country Side Sand and Gravel site and are very scenic for bird watching numerous waterfowl species and fishing.  No boats allowed.

Public access is available for Middle Lake and Lake Flavia via parking areas off Route 62.  Fishing is permitted within a 50 foot boundary from the waters edge outside the fenced areas.  There are signs posted with rules and regulations.  No trespassing allowed at North Lake.

Nearby is the Conewango Swamp. There are public fishing access areas on Swamp Road, Ireland Road and Route 394 for Little Conewango Creek.  The NYS DEC stocks brown trout in this stream north of the village of Randolph.  The Conewango Swamp is a designated Wildlife Management Area.
