Western New York Outdoors
A Parks and Recreation Guide to locations for
outdoor adventures in WNY.
Cassadaga Lakes
State land in the Towns of Pomfret
and Stockton, Chautauqua County.
Description:
There are three scenic lakes connected here, Upper, Middle and Lower located off Route 60 to Dale
Drive. A great place for boaters and anglers. There is a NYS DEC
boat launch site off Dale Drive. Nearby is the
spiritual retreat of Lily Dale.
Less than 3 miles west of Lily Dale, nearby in the Town of Stockton, is Bear
Lake. Another scenic lake with NYS DEC boat launch. Access off Bear
Lake Road. Muskie, bass, pike and walleye are popular with anglers here.
Cassadaga Creek flows southerly from Lower Lake. It has public fishing access
near Luce Road and Moon Road. Further downstream it meets Bear Lake
Outlet. It is primarily a trout stream. There are canoe launches off
County 71, before South Stockton, and County 66. In between these is the
Cassadaga Creek Preserve. For more info see the
Marden Cobb Waterway page.
