Alma Hill

Description:

A New York State boat launching site in the hamlet of Alma on Four Mile Road near the border with Pennsylvania.  Take Route 19 south of Wellsville.

This lowland and rugged hilly region has canoeing, fishing, birdwatching, a lily swamp and a beaver dam system.  Wildlife observances abound, even an occasional wild elk from PA may be spotted in this scenic area.  The west end of the lake drains into Honeoye Creek, a main tributary of the Genesee River.  Nearby Alma Hill peaks at 2,548 feet.

There is also a Beaver Lake on Maple Grove Road in the Town of Freedom, Cattaraugus County.
